FROM THE DEANS OFFICE:
Exciting Changes Ahead | A Fresh Space for Wildcat Students!
Dear Wrightwood Parents and Students,
We have some wonderful changes coming your way from the Dean’s office! After investing a lot of time and effort, we’re thrilled to unveil a newly designed and decorated space that offers a fresh look and feel, perfectly aligned with our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students.
At the heart of this transformation is our desire to create a supportive community that empowers our students, promotes their well-being, and makes them feel heard, seen, valued and appreciated. This new space will continue to uphold high standards of accountability, where we can engage in challenging discussions about correcting behaviors and making better choices. We are dedicated to maintaining accountability and educating students on the importance of doing what is right. However, it’s equally important for us to ensure that this area serves multiple purposes, acting as an outlet for students to reset their thoughts and emotions without feeling judged. With permission, selected students can even enjoy this area with their friends during lunch and recess!
Ms. Washington and I have designed this space intentionally, adding calming sensory toys, new books for reading and learning, and we were intentional about furniture with soothing colors and textures to promote a welcoming atmosphere of transparency and vulnerability. We’ve also included cozy seating that fosters a sense of belonging and comfort.
For students who earn free time in this space, we’re excited to provide games like Uno, Connect Four, Monopoly, and others to encourage teamwork and positive camaraderie. There’s also coloring pencils, crayons, coloring books, and other activities for students to enjoy.
As we move into spring, we have even more exciting initiatives on the horizon. One highlight is our new “Peace Corner”—a special area in our office where students can write encouraging messages on the wall after successful peace circle mediations. This will help foster a culture of understanding and serve as a constant reminder of their growth every time they walk into the Dean’s office.
Following Spring Break, we invite parents, students, and staff to stop by and see all the new and exciting things happening in the Dean’s office. Things will be fully redesigned then and we’re very excited to work on strategies that will continue to push our culture forward.
Thank you for your continued support!
